All book trailers are terrible apart from this one for an-com sci-fi ‘Planet Rasputin’ which is terrible surrealistically. Psychedelically + pataphysically. Symbolically. Supernaturally. Psychopathologically. Gleefully.
Opens with my last remaining extract from the sucked-dry bones of Jane Arden’s ‘Anti-Clock’ then slides into a black galaxy of ‘Blake’s 7’, ‘Altered States’, ‘Doomed Megalopolis’, J.G. Ballard, Bava’s ‘Planet of the Vampires’, etc.
It’s almost 7 minutes long, still a trailer? Let’s re-territorialise that, make trailers symbolic + insane again for the very first time.
I do spell out the plot somewhere in the middle. Which is then subsumed by the intro theme from Carpenter’s ‘Dark Star’. Future-ominous into bleak repose [‘Space is just a starry night’ // Tanith Lee [sung by Josette Simon] back into future-ominous.
Will Rasputin turn up…at some point?
