In the name of avocational video collage, the trailer for upcoming PKD mega-collab project UB#K!

May have said this a month or two back, but not a sequel or a prequel or a reboot or reimagining of UBIK, more a mutation of the PKD novel with lunatic image-text constructs posing as chapters and a plot that has confused and will confuse the contributors as much as any future readers. Something about LOST-FUTURE 1992 becoming ALT-LOST FUTURE 1998 where there are colonies in the Kuiper Belt and Dickian astrophysical spiritualism beyond that in the Oort Cloud. Plus, human wretches Joe Chip, Glen Runciter and Pat Conley all return from the original UBIK.

Hopefully, the whole thing will be ready to launch before Xmas [2026]. It’s already 300+ pages long, around 40k words; dunno how unwieldly it’s gonna ultimately get [can you wield a free PDF??]

RE: the trailer – another vid collage done by me, obviously, ripping from Space:1999, Naked Lunch, World on a Wire, Decoder, Sentimentale Jugend, Dave Ball, Guest From The Future, Tscherkassky’s Outer Space, Balasa’s The City, Super Metroid OST, etc.

I think it’s pretty good overall, with the last 3 minutes reaching GAWP KOLLONTAI level.

Weird how you can start with no real concept and then mutate your way into one until, finally, you watch it back and think, yes, it all fits, all makes thematic sense, how?? Even little pairings like the ‘Naked Lunch glass on wife’s head + Peter Weller drinking from a glass next to his alien typewriter guide’…or the ‘mirror scenes’…all completely out of the blue, just came about somehow…through the HYPERCUBUS??
